The KAFD Grand Mosque was designed by Omrania as a total work of architecture, art, landscape, and urban design. New photographs beautifully reveal some of the mosque’s key design features.
Until recently, the architecture KAFD Grand Mosque, inspired by the crystalline geometries of naturally occurring “desert rose” sand crystals, was only partially recorded and published in high-quality photographs. New images by photographers such as Ahmed AlJarbou (who is also an architect) and Ahmed Drwiesh offer a welcome new perspective on this defining spiritual centerpiece of the KAFD urban district. The soaring prayer hall, the angular forms of the building and interiors, the welcoming plaza, the large-scale calligraphic glass decoration, the harmony between architecture and the city—all this and more can be seen in the views that they have captured and generously shared.
