From concept to final design

As a Senior Technical Architect, Edwin knows best how to take an architectural concept to final design; going through a rigourous process of detailing, code compliance, coordinating with all engineering disciplines… etc.   When asked about the CMA tower, he said “The majority of these details had to be developed from scratch (not from standard details).  I also take much pride and pleasure in seeing how these details worked out and got constructed.”

Why did you join Omrania?

Because I believed in the company’s philosophy of excellence. I admired the design quality of Omrania’s projects and the quality of its services.

What are your favorite projects you have worked on? And why?

Al-Rashid Hotel
I participated in this project when I was still a part-timer in Omrania. I like the interesting forms of the tower; a snake shape in plan and an irregular form vertically.  This project offered me the opportunity to prove myself to Omrania’s management.  They kept a close eye on my performance, and asked me to join Omrania full-time by the end of project.

GOSI Office Park
This was my first project after becoming a full-time member in Omrania. I like the functionality of this mixed-use project. Again, this project allowed me to prove my skills and commitment to the technical design team, especially when it comes to finishing a design that was started by someone else.

Capital Market Authority (CMA) Headquarters
This is currently the tallest building in Riyadh, and the highest tower I ever worked on. Apart from the building size and iconic significance, I enjoyed working on the huge amount of details needed to complete such a complex project.  The majority of these details had to be developed from scratch (not from standard details).  I also take much pride and pleasure in seeing how these details worked out and got constructed.

What is your favorite part of the day at work?

I like evenings!  It gets quiet; I can concentrate more, get in the flow, and there is a lot less interruptions

What do you like most about working with Omrania?

There are two things that I like the most.  I feel that Omrania is a family, and the company treats its people as family members.  I also see Omrania as a “systematic” design firm; things do have an order to them.

What is the most challenging part of the work?

The most challenging part of the job is working under the pressure of deadlines, meeting those tight deadlines, and meeting the expectations of clients

If you were to recommend Omrania to your best friend; what would you say?

I would say: Omrania is one of the best workplaces that I can refer you to; it helps you to grow and cultivate your knowledge and capabilities. Moreover, working here empowers your interpersonal and technical skills.
