Project Brief

In 1985, Omrania were commissioned by the AlSaudi AlHollandi Bank to design a branch premises to be sited on a 5,000 m2 strategically located site in the centre of the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh.  Omrania were subsequently commissioned to supervise the construction of the building on site.

The distinctive building shape is a landmark in the Diplomatic Quarter.  It’s a reinforced concrete cylindrical structure with a dominant, square shaped canopy structure, decorated with a geometrically patterned, relief motif in the traditional Najd style, representing the corporate image of the bank wished to project.

The main banking hall has a simple vaulted ceiling with a central skylight.

GRC Canopy panels are introduced to provide visual dramatic effect.
