Green district and public park designed by Omrania receive global recognition

Omrania’s design for King Salman Park, a 13.3 square-kilometer green space in Riyadh that will be the largest urban park in the world, was named a winner of the 2020 International Architecture Awards in the category of urban planning / landscape architecture.

Omrania previously won an international competition to serve as the lead design consultant of this extraordinary urban landscape comprising a variety of ecological, cultural, recreational, and sports amenities. Omrania and Henning Larsen Architects collaborated to design a master plan for King Salman Park that calls for a series of central public open areas surrounded by new mixed-use developments, forming a vibrant and sustainable urban district that reflects the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.

The International Architecture Awards are presented by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, Ltd.  The annual awards program is intended “to honor the best, significant new buildings, landscape architecture, and planning projects designed and/or built around the world’s leading architects, landscape architects, and urban planners practicing nationally and internationally.”
