Progress on the Western Station, a multimodal hub of the new Arriyadh Metro system, can be seen in a series of recent aerial photos.
Omrania designed the Western Station as a high-performance transit hub and a contemporary architectural landmark for a rapidly developing neighborhood. Connecting commuter rail lines with rapid bus transit lines and a series of public and retail spaces, the station represents the new face of Riyadh: contemporary, sustainable, livable. The photos show the swooping contours of the structure receiving their cladding, evoking the topography of desert sand dunes and the synthesis of architecture and landscape. These eye-catching forms are optimized to create shaded station entries, indirect sunlight penetration, and shaded pedestrian areas.
